Governance, Stewardship, and Shared Understanding

Purpose: This Charter exists to protect your work, amplify your voice, and ensure ethical collaboration within The Qii Institute’s nonprofit mission.

1 | What the Qii Fellowship Includes:

As a 2026 Qii Fellow, you gain access to the Qii Tech Boost Package:

• Identity: Professional innovator @theQii.org email and title for your bio/resume.
• Tools: Google Workspace (Drive/Docs), Microsoft (Teams/Drive), and Canva Pro for research/education.
• Community: Invitation to the Qii Fellows Commons shared drive and institutional affiliation for grants and speaking engagements.
• Commitment: Flexible. No required hours. Engage as your projects allow.

2 | Identity & the “Two Hats” Rule

• Independent Status: You are an independent innovation professional collaborating, not an employee or legal agent. You cannot sign contracts or incur debt on behalf of The Qii.
• Co-Existence of Missions: We celebrate your entrepreneurial journey through other missions and objectives as a Sole proprietor, LLCs, B-Corps, Schools, Universities, Hospitals and Clinics, Nonprofits, and many other forms of innovating. However, Qii resources are for Mission-Aligned Activities (research, workshops, public good).
• The Line: If the final product is for the community/nonprofit/self-improvement, learning, and exploring future growth potential of the common good, use your Qii Hat. If the primary intent is selling a product or growing your personal business, use your Business Hat instead. [Note: See the Fellows’ Handbook for a list of “In vs. Out” examples.]

3 | Digital Stewardship & Privacy

• Safe Keeping: To protect our collective 501(c)(3) status, 2-step verification (2FA) is mandatory. Assets may not be used for private business operations or political campaigning.
• Commons Privacy: Respect the privacy of your peers. Do not export or share internal contact lists or sensitive research data without permission. [Note: Qii Open Resources will be clearly marked and will be ready to be shared and amplified. Please feel free to engage, attribute, and encourage others to do the same.]

4 | Intellectual Property & “Sovereign” Sharing

• Ownership: Your IP remains yours. We exist to amplify you, not extract from you.
• Attribution: For work supported by Qii tools, please use: “Supported in part by a Fellowship from The Qii.”
• The Default: We aim to produce work that is shared freely (CC-BY-NC-SA). If a commercial opportunity arises from your Qii research, we will “go back to the drawing board” together to find a responsible path.

5 | Methodological Fidelity & Culture

• Integrity: We value rigor in research and kindness in community. Harassment, discrimination, or “extractive” behavior (taking without reciprocity) is grounds for dismissal.
• The “Kill Switch”: To protect our nonprofit status, The Qii reserves the right to revoke access at any time for Charter violations.
• Renewal: Fellowships are opt-in and renew annually every December.

The Qii Visiting Researcher Fellowship is not just a title; it is a collaborative infrastructure. We work to expand the network, resources, tools, security, and institutional affiliation for proven independent innovators shaping the emerging future of Innovation 4.0 and beyond.
